A Letter from Matthew & Beth
We are so excited to start the next chapter of our lives as parents and are grateful to you for taking the time to get to know a little about us! We love being together, whether it’s hanging out at home with our dog and cats, doing housework, taking vacations, or growing our faith. We are open to adopting a child of any gender or race. We look forward to sharing our lives with your child!
If you would like, we are open to sharing letters, photos, and visits with you.
We met the old-fashioned way: online! On our first-date at a hot-dog shop called Weiner King, we quickly realized that we both could laugh in any situation. Quality time together is important to us so we make sure to have quiet times at home, watch television together, or take trips to Florida or the Bahamas. While we both are huge sports fans, some of our most competitive (and fun) moments come while picking robots on an episode of BattleBots!
We love embracing our nerdy sides but the base of our marriage is rooted in our deep love for Jesus Christ! Our Faith was the main reason we felt the calling to adopt. We knew we wanted to have a family but the revelation came one night when we both discovered we had adoption on our hearts. We are excited to be on this journey of adoption!
Matthew takes his responsibilities seriously, whether it’s his work as a project manager or his role as the leader of our family. He has this way of bringing light to any situation; one of my favorite ways is when he makes up random songs, seemingly out of nowhere, and then just looks at me and asks, “did you like my song?” Matthew is just as comfortable sharing his beliefs and hopes for our future as he is being goofy.
Matthew loves to read and will spend hours reading all sorts of books from those about spirituality and history to Harry Potter. He also enjoys doing yard work and takes pride in having a nice yard. I am blessed to call him my husband, as well as my best friend. I am looking forward to calling him our child’s father.
Beth is a wonderful wife and she will be an excellent mother. She has a way of making everything happy and fun, and I know she will always lead our family on the correct path. I knew she was “the one” when on our second date, her dog snuck up and took a bite off of my sandwich! She sheepishly looked over at me and then we both started cracking up. That moment of making crazy situations fun has been a major theme of our marriage.
Beth enjoys learning how to do all sorts of new things like new cooking techniques or how to lay hardwood floors. She takes those cooking techniques and puts them to use in the dinners she cooks us each night. I am excited to watch Beth teach our child everything she has and will continue to learn.
We live in the suburb of a big city in Ohio, which gives us the quiet of a small town and the ability to easily go downtown for sporting events, museums, or the zoo. Our home is a two-story home with three bedrooms. We have a fenced backyard and a large community green space across the street. Our neighborhood is new and is made up largely of young families with kids.
We are very close to both of our families. We regularly talk and get together multiple times a year. Each of our families have their own family traditions that we are excited to pass on, like listening to Christmas music all Christmas Eve long while hanging out in sweats at Beth’s parents’ house, going to Matthew’s parents’ house for turkey with homemade cranberry sauce, and football on Thanksgiving. We are also excited to create our own family traditions like sitting in front of the fireplace on Christmas day while drinking hot chocolate.
Our entire family, including our dog, Chewy, and cats, Sally and Scooter, are excited to welcome your child home and to shower them with boundless love.
We promise to love your child unconditionally. We will make sure they grow up knowing the importance of following Christ, education, and hard work. We promise to guide them with a balance of truth and grace so that your child can learn what is right yet feel safe in coming to us when he/she needs guidance. We look forward to sharing pictures, letters, and visits and would love the chance to speak with you.
